This is a VERY effective jig, used throughout the world. It's a good idea to have a variety of different colors available, as squid will often hit on different colors at different times.

This is the Large Squid Jig Bait Rig that is used with a whole mackerel. The Mackerel bait is mounted by inserting the Jig through the centre of the bait so that the head of the bait is resting towards the needle sharp hooks. The rig is then attached to your rod by a 'Quick Release' clip allowing the morsel to slip head long into the sea.

This rig is superb for squid fishing but also has its place when wrecking for Conger, Ling, Cod as the multi hook system will easily snare your prey. As there are no barbs on the hooks, a steady pressure is required to haul your standard quarry to the surface, where your catch will easily be released when you up-end your quarry the same way as you would a Squid catch.

These underwater lights are used to attach to your line - to attract fish or squid to your lures, they work really well! Use them for squid fishing at night or during the day in deep water - hook a snap swivel to the acrylic ring at the top of the light, and attach your squid jig up about 12" from the light, and usually use three jigs about 12" apart.

The same setup will work using Sabiki Jigs, Mackerel or Cod Feathers. Just hook your light to the bottom of your Sabiki Rig, and you're in business.

The light shines up on them from below and the up and down jigging motion puts your bait right in front of the squid or other targeted prey. Makes the squid go crazy for them.

You can also use these lights for deep sea fishing, such as for Halibut. Put one of these lights down by your bait to help attract fish to your bait. Remember, you get down past about 100 feet deep, and it starts to get dark down there. Improve your fishing success by using light. These are a LOT easier that bringing a generator or battery pack to power your light! A lot cheaper than chemical lights too, especially if you use rechargeable batteries.

California Fishing Report 3 Feb 2006 - We got into the giant squid in 650ft of water. There were four of us. We caught 25 of which half were caught by me using the 2.5lb jig and an LED flashing light. I left my jig in daylight for 1/2 hour before fishing and also added the LED flashing light as well. I am sure that the combination was a killer setup. The LED light has that intense penetrating strobe brilliance; my friend Campy used the other single battery light you sent and I still out fished him. Both lights performed well at 650 + ft).
