For this bigger size reel we've dropped the gear ratio to 4:1 but each turn of the crank will pull in 600mm (24") of line, and the lower ratio gives you much more pulling power. The heavy tackle rock and surf angler won't find a better reel for live bait fishing. A new friction material is used for bigger drag washers that float between a stainless steel brake plate and an enlarged braking area on the spool flange. The brake plate and pinion gear are assembled as one integral unit enabling precise alignment of the brake plate and spool flange. We have altered the pitch of the feed that moves the brake plate towards the spool so that a bigger range of drag from free spool to full drag is achieved.

The combination of these features gives you the smoothest drag ever and one that will catch fish after fish and still retains its silky smooth stopping power.

A major feature of the Monarch 2000 series drag is the easy breakaway that is so important for trolling and live bait fishing. No more break-offs when that yellow-fin snatches your lure - the drag will yield to its pre-programmed setting without a shudder.

On the two bigger models (2018 and 2020) the whole drag system has been increased in diameter to give the reels more stopping power.

Policansky have improved the free run of the spool on the two small 2006 and 2010 models making them even better casting and spinning reels than their predecessors.
