Squid Fishing Guide
Casting Jigs for Squid (Slack Tide / Shallow Water)
When the tide slackens off, the light tackle gear comes out. This short window of opportunity offers anglers the chance to target squid with a nearly weightless presentation. Use your favourite Squig Jig.
1. Cast uptide and away from the boat and let your lure sink to the bottom.
2. Once the line goes slack, begin working the lure slowly across the bottom to imitate the natural movement of these baits.
3. This technique is best used on light tackle spinning outfits to feel subtle bites. Light fluorocarbon leader is also recommended.
