Description:

Handling the catch in the correct way is one of the important parts of Sport fishing. First you have to dispatch your catch with a hit on the back of the head using a tool called a "Priest" or better still despatch your fish using a "Spike" as portrayed in the attached video. The Spike should be in every angler's tacklebox especially when chasing big game fish like Tuna. !!<>!!Why bleed a fish? !!<>!! The answer is simple; fish blood deteriorates very quickly & will taint the flesh. A simple, clean and neat way to despatch and bleed a fish is:- 1. Spike the fish through its brain. 2. Cut the gills on both sides of the body and continue the cut to the end near the mouth as shown in the picture. 3. Make an incision at the tail of the fish and insert a length of stainless-steel wire up through the spinal cord of the fish to stop any further signals to and from the fish's body. 4. Hang the fish so that the head is lower than its tail and flush water through its gills which will promote rapid blood flow. Enjoy the fresh untainted taste of your catch
